H.pylori + Chronic Skin Conditions: Why We Should Be More Concerned About This Problematic Gut Bug
Helicobacter pylori is a gram-negative bacteria found in 50-60% of humans. Though there are questions as to how problematic it is and whether it warrants treatment, recent research demonstrates H.pylori in statistically significant percentages of people with a variety of chronic skin conditions including psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, urticaria, rosacea, acne, vitiligo, and lichen planus. This presentation explores the gut-skin connection with a focus on H.pylori and how it may be detrimental to skin health because of nutrient deficiencies, immune system activation, and gut microbiome imbalances. Evidence-based alternative approaches for eliminating H.pylori will be presented.
