This lecture will cover a progression of topics.
1. Introduction to checkpoint inhibitor drugs, their mechanisms of action, history, the most common players and the cancers they are used to treat.
2. A review of the research that suggests the effectiveness of these drugs is linked to the gut microbiome and an up-to-date summary of the latest research in this regard.
3. Methods we might employ to alter the gut biome in order to increase the benefits of immunotherapy. Testing, diet, fecal transplant etc.
4. A review of how other practitioners are choosing to address and/or treat these patients.
Jacob Schor, ND
Dr Schor graduated from NCNM in 1991 and practiced in Denver, Colorado until 2019. At the start of the pandemic he retired to a log cabin in Maine, where he has pretty much stayed put. During his career as a naturopathic doctor, he served the board of the Colorado Association as legislative chair, and president. He also served on the AANP board and chaired their conference planning committee for several years. He also served on the board of the Oncology Association of Naturopathic Physicians (OncANP) in various capacities, was an associated editor of the Natural Medicine Journal, a monthly contributor to the Townsend Letter and a frequent writer for NDNR.
